Man stabbed in back during dispute that started in Greenwich Village McDonald's
Police are investigating if the same suspect may have stabbed another man in the East Village hours later.
GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A 23-year-old man was stabbed during a dispute that started inside a McDonalds in Greenwich Village.
Police say two men got into an argument inside the restaurant at 724 Broadway in NoHo after 2:45 a.m. on Thursday.
The clash then spilled outside. Video shows the victim, in beige pants, square up with the alleged suspect, wearing green printed pants and an orange shirt.
The fight moved up the block and out of frame, at which point authorities say the suspect stabbed the victim in the back.
The 23-year-old victim from the Bronx was loaded in an ambulance and taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The alleged suspect fled on foot. No arrests have been made.
Then, just a few hours later in the East Village around 6:30 a.m., another man was slashed at St. Marks Place and Second Avenue.
Cameras captured two men, one wearing a yellow shirt with a shopping cart, picking through the garbage at the corner of the location.
A third person, a man in a red jacket carrying a blue bag, walked up.
They initially get into a verbal argument that again escalates.
The victim, a 44-year-old man holding what looks like a piece of wood, hit the suspect, who grabs the object while kicking the other man.
The suspect is seen throwing the stick and walking away. He comes back to get his bag, now with only one shoe on, and leaves.
A few seconds later, the victim also comes back to pick up where he left off, sorting through the garbage and not yet realizing at first that he's hurt.
A short time later, video shows a pool of blood by his feet. Police say the 44-year-old man's right hand was cut.
He was also taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
People in the area said they heard glass breaking.
"I was going out of the garage and when I came close to the corner I saw a lot of blood, and there was something wrapped in a material, maybe like a t-shirt, I am not sure," the witness said. "And I asked the police officer, 'What happened?' And he told me somebody was stabbed."
It's not yet known if the incidents are connected to the same suspect.
